Long Term IEP Goals

While the IEP is the blue print for how your child will receive services, that blueprint needs context to be effective. That context is made up largely of the long term goals that you and your child have for their future. Are they hoping or planning to go to college or vocational school, to live in or outside the home, or in a supported living community? An idea of where you are trying to get to can inform and focus what goals are established in the IEP. If nothing else, thinking big is a positive step to making something that may seem impossible now possible in the future.
